Conservapedia:Examples of hypocrisy in Conservapedia

  • User:Aschlafly is quick to criticize Wikipedia for having a secret mailing list that a few of their sysops were using to discussion administrative decisions.[1] The obvious parallels between this and his very own secret Special discussion group are utterly lost on him however.
  • One of Conservapedia's claimed differences from Wikipedia is that unlike wikipedia they do not censor "facts". See Conservapedia#Censorship in Conservapedia for refutation.
  • User:Aschlafly criticizes liberals for "[their] insistence on having the last word in a discussion or debate"[2] something he insists upon himself. The usual course of debate on Conservapedia is that after several dozen comments Aschlafly will produce a concluding comment and then just block the editor for some silly reason insuring him the last word. Observe the following discussions linked to and observe who got the last word, you will notice it was not the liberal; [3] [4] [5]
  • They also claim they don't penalize editors for posts on other sites or for ideological reasons. Suuuure they don't. (See also here.)
  • The "Commandments" are stringently enforced... only on people the sysops don't like.
  • Democratically-elected leftist leaders such as Hugo Chavez are painted as brutal dictators while the human rights abuses of anti-communists such as Pinochet are downplayed or ignored completely.
  • Aschlafly claims they don't want to post shocking crimes on the front page[1] except, of course, when they do.
  • Andrew Schafly has claimed that only liberals are deceitful, however it appears that Andy is a bit decitful himself. When asked if he could talk on AIM about something personal he stated that "[I] am not accustomed to using AIM."[2] However later we learn that he is online with AIM "almost all the time"[3]

  3. Testimony of cp:user:Iduan: "Andy did not grant me sysop privileges, and apparently he felt I wasn't even good enough to speak to, because he did not talk to me either (he said he was unaccustomed to AIM - which frankly, is a lie, as through both other Conservapedians and an alternate username I discovered he was online almost all the time, but I guess I'm used to that double standard). And thus, at the conclusion of the contest, I will be blocking myself indefinitely and leaving Conservapedia. Andy, I really do admire what you've done here - in my eyes you're a great man and I hope that you have the great success with Conservapedia you deserve, in fact, honestly, I even hope that I'm invited back (obviously with rights), but as I said in the email, I wouldn't have cared if you had given me the chance and then taken it away the second I made even the smallest mistake, but I needed that chance."
