Guide to Hebrews
From RationalWiki
Hebrews is one of the Epistles (letters) in the New Testament. Though it was traditionally attributed to Paul, most scholars do not believe he wrote it, and further, they do not have any idea who wrote it.[1]
The intended audience of Hebrews of course are Jewish converts to Christianity, and the overriding theme of the epistle is how the endless sacrifices for sin, accomplished every year by the ritual slaughter of animals, has been replaced by the final sacrifice of Christ himself, who was both victim and priest, and who entered the heavenly Holy of Holies (of which the temple version was a mere copy) to make atonement.
[edit] Footnotes
- ↑ ok, Hebrews is a really dang irrelevant book, and there's really nothing to say on it. Unless you go into the myriad speculations on who wrote it...so this article is "officially" not a stub, it's just dang short.
