Welcome to the RationalWiki Intercom. This system allows users to send messages to other users quickly and easily.

In order to receive or send messages you must join one or more of the groups located here. Once you add yourself to a group, you will receive any messages sent to that group, and be able to send out your own messages to its other members. You can join or leave any group at anytime.

To send a message simply write it in the box below then use the drop down menu to select the group you would like to send it to. There is also the option of selecting an expiration time after which the message will not be displayed to users in the group (it will still be archived on this page). It is highly recommended this option be used for any time sensitive messages to avoid piling up stale messages for users that are absent for a period of time.

You can create your own groups by editing this file, simply add the name of the group below the existing groups, following the formatting carefully.

Special groups:

  • "Site wide (urgent)" sends a message to every user account on the site. All users are automatically recipients of this group's messages. Only a few people are allowed to send out messages to this group, and it will only be used to announce important information about the site that is relevant to all users.
  • "Sandbox" is a place for testing messages. Any messages sent to it will only be visible to you, so you can use it to experiment with the intercom system without annoying everyone else.

The intercom system only supports the following markup:

  • Interwiki and external links using the square bracket syntax
  • The <small>, <br>, , and <i> tags

Article of the Weak

The current Article of the Weak is slated to be replaced Sunday night. The proposed Article of the Weak is Conservapedia's Atheism article. Anyone interested in helping out, particularly with choosing external links please come by the talk page. Otherwise, I will just arbitrarily pick :). (from Tmtoulouse at 08/23/08 : 14:50:56)

ArticleoftheWeak

Someone had to break the dam, I have archived the CP atheism article can someone check over the new one and then transclude it when it checks out. (from Tmtoulouse(talk) at 10/26/08 : 13:16:40)

Human -- in regards to your comment ("Is there anyone on this channel?") -- yes. Me. I'm on every channel, in fact. So there.

(from Pink(talk) at 10/06/08 : 02:22:01)</small>

Is there anyone on this channel? (from Human(talk) at 09/23/08 : 18:04:18)</small>

Does anyone else find it somewhat, ironic, that with all our criticism of CP's Atheism article being permanently stuck on their frontpage we seem to have done the exact same thing? (from Tmtoulouse(talk) at 09/23/08 : 17:45:36)

"Change "week" to month? That might help." - It's not "week", it's "weak"... so it gets changed whenever we get a round tuit. But, yeah, without a core group of people trying to get new ones ready, it might, sadly, die on the vine. I try to care, but I keep forgetting. (from Human(talk) at 09/08/08 : 17:05:32)

PS, Why intercom instead of just "talk", cause i'd never done it before. Fresh meat and all that... (from WaitingforGodot(talk) at 09/08/08 : 15:13:23)

Change "week" to month? That might help. It's way too hard for many of us to manage to wrap our feeble minds around this type of drivel "every so often" much less each month.  :P (from WaitingforGodot(talk) at 09/08/08 : 15:12:33)

There is no way I am going to be able to hand hold this every week. If no one else wants to step up then I think this is a noble idea whose time has just not come and it should be retired till I have the time, or someone else picks it up. (from Tmtoulouse(talk) at 09/08/08 : 14:45:30)

(from Human(talk) at 08/31/08 : 17:17:25)</small>

Anyone have any suggestions for next weeks Article of the Weak? Figure another Conservapedia one would be good, what do you guys think? Homosexuality? One of Schlafly's liberal x article? (from Tmtoulouse(talk) at 08/31/08 : 17:03:31)

Are we gonna try to do up a new AotW for this week, or just wait til next? (from Human(talk) at 08/30/08 : 01:40:00)

Very nearly almost. I want to give extremal names to each slider first. See how some have peoples name and others have vary to amazingly. So fix Andy's first and when they are all done we need to do copy and paste for all. (from 3.14159(talk) at 11/17/08 : 18:47:59)

I'd love to help, if I won't easily mess things up. Is it just a matter of copy/pasting the Aschlafly slider with the sysop name changed? (from Symuun(talk) at 11/17/08 : 18:45:08)

Hi all. I am try to get started on the Debate:CP's biggest idiot 2 before CP day arrives. If someone wants to help filling out the slider names and then when we have all of them copying to each sysop it would make it easier. (from 3.14159(talk) at 11/17/08 : 18:39:59)

On the other hand, if combat means being on an Aegis-class cruiser managing the computer controls for twelve ships... a female may be again dramatically better than a male who gets very, very frustrated sitting in a chair all the time because males are biologically driven to go out and hunt giraffes. - Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Reinhardt College, January 7, 1995, "Renewing American Civilization." A comment on the BBC "map" (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/talking_point/7708582.stm). It's definitely one of those cases where "Democracy is awesome, providing everyone votes the way I want".

"Bill Ward, New Lenox: Most every black person voted for him; tell me that is not racist. 90% of the people that owe my business money are black. Maybe Mr Obama will spread some wealth to them and see if they use it to pay all the white business owners they are indebted to. I doubt it. This is a day to remember when the country was hijacked by the lower 51% of the people. The mob rules, but always looses control in the long run. I bought a magic clock this summer. It's a AA-powered analog wall clock, no radio in it that I could see, doesn't know whether it's AM or PM, etc. What's the magic? It self adjusts for DST/normal time! And it did it. (from Human(talk) at 11/02/08 : 18:10:58)</small>

John *who*? Should I know him? His name sounds like someone who's about to be OWNED on Nov. 4 (from Radioactive afikomen(talk) at 11/02/08 : 05:01:14)

AKjeldsen, since you love Les Miserables so much, and "One day more" in particular; here's my favorite rendition of the song from the 10th Anniversary concert.

Not that I would ever say people should click on ads, as I am not suppose to, but we are really close to the threshold value that google cuts the check, if we can get $5 more in ad rev this month it gives us coverage through December. Just saying. (from Tmtoulouse(talk) at 10/27/08 : 20:59:34)

Holy shit I've just had an epiphany! What if Conservative is the real super-parodist and NOT Bugler. I mean, the stuff he's doing to his pet articles basically make them nothing but totally and utterly laughable to everyone but the people who wouldn't need to read them because they already hold such f**ked up ideas. So, they no longer have a point at all, there's certainly no educational value and no one is going to be converted by something so poorly written. Think about it, he's single handedly turning Conservapedia into a total laughing stock in a way that MUST be intentional. Bugler's his left-hand man at drawing away attention while Kenny does the real damage.

Can anyone translate this? It appeared on the wall of a facebook group and I have no idea. But I thought it'd be interesting to send it around for the sheer amount of What-the-fuckery that it is.

"Hello guys, I am sûre evolution is a real topic but... evolution is too dangerous for part of the population. an example, a soldier who back to home next 2 years in Iraky war can have only a falling down when he'll look those kind of think... Evolution is serious, don't joke with that and keep yours childs away. i'm for evolution, i practise an hardly evolution for me but i think, the administrateur should close his group... Internet is the revolution. Innovation of practissing evolution. I'm with you Erika, suck it up!" (from Armondikov(talk) at 10/14/08 : 12:01:20)

Well, I've already rationalized somewhere else (I'm sure I have, but I forget where) that strictly, the makers of Expelled shouldn't mind their film being pirated because they say that their main aim is to get a message across. So, if they're against the film being distributed for free illegally, it proves they're just out to make money (i.e., recoup some of the £10,000 bribes they gave out for kids to see it)... Well, that's how I'd justify it, but it probably doesn't change the legality, just the morality of it. ( Random group, from Armondikov(talk) at 10/14/08 : 06:55:40)

Our Poe's Law article is now the number one article for incoming traffic to our site. Several News stories are linking to it in conjunction with a religious parody about a recent video game release. A lot of other random forum, blog, and internet links have formed for it too. This is a good example of a "niche" concept/article that Wikipedia and other sites ignored, that we covered, and served as a useful tool for people out there. We she brain storm more things like this. (from Tmtoulouse(talk) at 09/11/08 : 23:45:57)

What we do: I was reading Wikipedia the other day, as I sometimes do, and came across their article on "lead poisoning". Site wide (urgent)

There seems to be some confusion, the Intercom system is suppose to work for anyone who is a member of a group to send messages out to that group. Some people are reporting permission problems. Sandbox should also work for everyone. If Sandbox is not working or if you are getting permission errors please let me know on the talk page. Thanks! (from Tmtoulouse(talk) at 08/26/08 : 14:05:56)

The RationalWiki Intercom system has now been updated based on user feedback. People can now create, join and send messages to customized groups. Visit the Intercom page for instructions, and offer feedback here. This is the last "non-urgent" item to be sent over this channel. Join other groups to stay in touch if you like or ignore it and you won't be seeing many of these. (from Tmtoulouse at 08/22/08 : 17:21:40)
