The Gideons

The Gideons are the people responsible for you finding a Bible in your hotel room. They're pretty good about missionary work -- they unobtrusively provide the message, and let you read as you see fit. Good people, though hopefully at least a few of them put in some other, non-faith-based volunteer time.

While those outside of the Bible Belt believe the above, they do not know the other activities they engage in. The Gideons are well known for going as near to college campuses as possible and very vocally proselytizing. Even worse, though, they often go into rural public elementary schools to proselytize.^[1] In most cases, if any parents protest that it is a violation of the separation of church and state, most of the school officials will claim to be trying to help the poor students.
