Request for sysopship[edit]

Just want to be a sysoop to show that people who are conservative can be fair. HGHeartOfGold talk 12:58, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Hi HG, I added you to RationalWiki:Requests_for_Sysop. Feel free to fix the header to be your sig style link if you want. Can I ask something of you? Kind of like homework ;) I hate to do that, but people keep giving me homework! Could you try to write an essay (filename Essay:Constitution Party) about the Consitution Party, addressing some of the conflicting things people say about it, and what it stands for? I say essay, as I want your views to be articulated on the subject. You could make a regular article, too, of course. PS, you will not be judged by whether or not you do this! humanbe in 13:12, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
I doubt they are racists, though they may have racists (not that you think they are). My grandpa is a racist, and a dyed in the wool Democrat. David Duke ran as a repulbican. I conversed with Ben Powers, a Constitution Party candidate--nice guy. I am not a member of the party, but support their official platform, which does not seem racist to me in the least. Regarding attacks from the left, I sort of doubt much of it is true, sounds like coinspriacy theories from people with too much time on their hands. I think the Constitution Party may be attacked from the left and the right because they may possibly become a threat to the defacto two party system (One more party than they had in Iraq:) HGHeartOfGold talk 13:58, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Sorry about not supporting you, it's not about you personally. I just think we have way too many sysops right now. Heck, I wouldn't vote for myself as a sysop! --Kels 14:44, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
I did not request sysopship because you need me as a sysop, but rather, it would probably further other goals of yours. Also, it would allow me to see what other wiki features are avaialable, in furtherance of my project plan to start a wiki. No problem. I won't resign. My aspirations lead elsewhere. Even so, you should consider the humor value in making me a sysop. HGHeartOfGold talk 15:11, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Honestly, I'm only one voice among many, and one of the smaller voices at that. So I wouldn't worry about me preventing you from getting it, I just wanted to object to the adding of more. I don't know too much about other goals, I'm just here to contribute and kibitz. --Kels 15:21, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
NP. HGHeartOfGold talk 16:18, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Without claiming they actually are racists (I'll talk about my views on them later, if you're interested), they're very vulnerable to charges that they are by heritage (similar to CP's charges that the ACLU is socialist and that Planned Parenthood is racist and eugenicist): their largest state affiliate, the American Independent Party in California, is the direct descendant of George Wallace's 1968 pro-segregation American Independent Party. --jtltalk 17:01, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Good points. I would counter that their current platform does not seem to me to be related to anything having to do with race, except perhaps immigration. My wife became a naturalized U.S. citizen (before I married her), and she is not white, and not only does she support the Constitution party platform (but not to the same extent as me), she is also against unfettered and illegal immigration. Of course, this doesn't prove much; Bobby Fisher, a person of Jewish heritage, believes in a Zionist conspiracy from what I understand. In the case of Planned Paranthood, their kinder, gentler eugenics is more directly related to their overt eugenic heritage. I should change my user box to say that I strongly agree with the Constitution Party platform, though. HGHeartOfGold talk 20:07, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Church Sign Generator[edit]

Sorry for the spam, just wanted to thank you for guiding me, indirectly, to churchsigngenerator.com. This has to be one of the most valuable take-aways from a wiki ever, for me at least. Merci! Aziraphale 14:05, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Well, it has humor potential (probably higher quality humor than what I used it for). I earnestly encourage you to avoid using it to commit blasphamey, but my encouragment has the full force of a friendly suggestion. HGHeartOfGold talk 14:20, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
heheh You and I don't know each other. I promise, I'm not interested in blasphemy. I'm far more amused putting things like LOLCATS slogans on the signs; juvenile, but giggling is giggling. See http://icanhascheezburger.com/2007/01/11/i-can-has-cheezburger/ for examples if you don't know what I mean. :) Aziraphale 14:43, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Password Reset[edit]

I assume you no longer need a password reset? Etaroced 14:30, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Yep, figured out how to use that conspicuously placed (email password) button--my fault. Thanks for checking up. HGHeartOfGold talk 15:04, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Hey HeartOfGold! Please don't take my lack of reply as dis-interest. Rather, I was at work/social stuff for a long, long time... I wish I had been able to help, but it seems to have worked out. Welcome back!-AmesG 21:47, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

I did not:)...feel a bit ashamed for not figuring out how to retrieve my own password. Just goes to show even the somewhat technically savvy can forget to read simple boilerplate instructions. HGHeartOfGold talk 21:49, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Conservapedia Paranoia[edit]

What's the scoop? I just heard that HeartofGold was an ememy of Conservapedia from a reliable source. What happened? Conservative 18:01, 24 May 2007 (EDT)

I can't reveal my source as it was through a prvt email by it was not TK. Conservative 18:05, 24 May 2007 (EDT)

Just lifted this off CP. Seems that leaving the site has made you an enemy. From what I saw when you left, it seemed like good terms.Prof0705 17:30, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

I am not sure what is going on. I am not CP's enemy. They may view me as an enemy, but that is their problem. I think some were paranoid about me from the beginning. I have learned here that some liberals also thought I was a "deep cover sock" so I guess you cannot blame them. Evidently, something about me makes some suspicious. I departed because my work there was done. I had no stake in CP, though I requested one (sysopship). Ultimately, WillN earned a sysop through merit, and I do not dispute that he earned it. Merit is in the eye of the beholder, and Andy has every right to decide what is and what is not merit, as general manager of CP. I also have every right to decide where I will give free labor. After I left, I continued to post on a user page here and there (maybe two or three times), but when I posted a little jibe at TK on his user page, he deleted my account and talk pages and archives there. My assumption is that TK can dish it out, but he just can't take it. In any event, in hindsight, leaving CP was a good move for me. HGHeartOfGold talk 19:46, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
TK is a weird little guy. He found out my IP due to a mistake on my part earlier today, and within two minutes banned my IP from CP, even though I've never had an account there. I can only assume it was because I criticized his behaviour here, or because he can't tell me apart from User:AKjeldsen.
I think you came out the better for it all, though. For one thing, you seem to have a great determination to make your own wiki, and make it good. And there's nothing bad about that. --Kels 19:57, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

random comments[edit]

1. I will be commenting (eventually?) on your sub page. Overall, I think it's a good idea, btw, I'm sorry you didn't find anything like it at CP.

2. Your church sign thing was really really funny, and smart, and snarky, and I miss it.

3. I forget. But it was nice. humanbe in 23:42, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

4. I remember. If you don't capitalize the "o" in "of", people might be less likely to call you "HOG". No big deal, tho' your all new spiffy sig ought to clear that up, eh? Oh no, you're going to start an "images in sigs" trend that will overwhelm the server! humanbe in 00:30, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

I'll give your suggestion a try. Thanks. HGHeart of Gold tx 00:33, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Userboxes[edit]

I think you may be interested in the two userboxes on my page. Welcome to Permaban County! :P (I also just fixed the code of the "User Block" template to correctly display cases with one block.) --Sid 07:04, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Thanks, I appreciate the willingness to debate.DocSock 13:53, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Sig[edit]

I like the heart thingy in your sig! ~~ Cracker 22:28, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Thanks. I do too. Somebody helped me with it, either JTL or Icewedge if I remember correctly. HeartGold tx 22:35, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
Yes, it's very nice.--Bob_M (talk) 04:26, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Donated sysops comment[edit]

eep! Sorry for editing your user page with that "How many donated sysopships" comment -- I thought that I was on your talk page, not user page. --jtltalk 22:45, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

That's okay. I'll move it here.

How many donated sysopships do you have to have to trade them in for a bureaucratorship? --jtltalk 17:58, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Six. It's tougher than Monopoly, where you only need what, 4+1 houses to buy a hotel? humanbe in 22:43, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
Human, in Monopoly you are supposed to build evenly which means you need to have 4 houses on the other two properties which makes it a total of 12 houses that you need prior to buying a hotel. --¿ Sta’le ? 23:02, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
Oh yes, of course. Although some streets only have two properties, right? Still, that makes it easier to "trade up" here. humanbe in 11:37, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Does anybody know where the list of sysops is? I'd like to evaluate my seniority. HeartGold tx 23:06, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

[here] you go. --jtltalk 23:46, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
Seniority? We explicitly do not have a seniority system. Please check any authoritarian tendencies at the door, the sign said. Speaking of signs, I can't resist this cheap shot regarding your new decoration: "Shoot first and spellcheck later" humanbe in 11:37, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
So sayeth Human, the Sysop ... ;-) --ύικι ντερπρετηρ woo!
Hahahahaha, actually, there is a sign on the door. Anyone can take it down, of course, but someone else will probably put it back. humanbe in 11:40, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
I just wanted to evaluate my seniority and look for correlations. What is wrong with that? Thanks for spell checking; word processors allowed me to be sloppy with my spelling, and using wiki markup in my word processor screws it up, so I do shoot before spell checking. HeartGold tx 14:28, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Tokenism[edit]

Can I use you to ride the subway? =P --Kels 18:04, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Should I create a sock and scout out WP? HeartGold tx 18:06, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
Sure, if it's the fun thing to do. --Kels 18:08, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
Looking for conservatives at WP might be like looking for needles in hay stacks. HeartGold tx 18:10, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, especially since according to Andy, a lot of them are really liberals who don't want to admit they're liberal. lol --Kels 18:14, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
I'm mildly amazed ASchlafly was able to find ANYONE who's able to keep within the limits of his weird view of Real True Conservatives. Much less enough of them to keep expanding CP... --Gulik 02:59, 27 May 2007 (CDT)
Hey Gold if you want a couple us could maybe switch-hit, and be tokens with you. I'll put on my Mr. Burns mask and be a Republican, and we can maybe stir up some trouble here.Prof0705 08:18, 27 May 2007 (CDT)

Message to RobS:

Re: RobS's machinations: Shame on you.[edit]

Rob, wow. I am not sure who you thought I was, but I have never worked on the Constitution party article, Jim Gilchrist or Ray Moore articles (never even heard of them), or The_Minuteman_Project_Inc articles at Wikipedia, conservapedia, or anywhere else. My sole exposure to the Constitution party is Ben Powers who ran for senate, and an examination of their party platform (which I wish the Republicans would adopt and implement). You should have spent more than two minutes chasing down conspiracy theories. And all based on a Constitution party user box, which even WP allows. Shame on you.

I also resent the implication that I am a racist considering my own children are only half Occidental, and many others in my family are also of diverse racial and ethnic (read: mixed) backgrounds. I also resent the implication that I was part of a concerted effort to smear CP, or WP, while supposedly editing those articles (which, I have never edited at WP or CP).

You seem to think that whispering intimations and accusations in ears has no consequences. Shame on you. Your actions may have cost me a sysopship at CP, and were part of what did cost CP my continued contributions (many of which Andy seemed to like). You should be ashamed that you whisper in the ears of the powerful (at CP). At least the secular fundamentalist sysops at WP, scum though most of them be, usually conduct their machinations out in the open. HeartGold tx 23:07, 27 May 2007 (CDT)

Don't shame me, shame WP. RobS 11:05, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
